Each year, beginning on May 6 and ending on May 12—Florence Nightingale’s birthday—the nation celebrates National Nurses Week. At Clark, the week got off to a delicious start with an appreciation breakfast for Clark’s talented nursing faculty. Clark College President Bob Knight, Vice President of Instruction Tim Cook and Dean of Health Sciences Blake Bowers donned oven mitts and helped serve the morning meal.

This was only the first of several events during the weeklong celebration. The Nursing department also recognized approximately 150 preceptors and nurse managers at Clark’s clinical affiliates. And a webinar titled Innovation in Nursing Practice: Are You Leading the Charge? was sponsored by the American Nursing Association.

Located on the Washington State University Vancouver campus, Clark’s Nursing department serves more than 280 students annually and graduates nurses three times a year. Founded in 1960, it is the longest-standing nursing program in Southwest Washington.
