Foundation wins two merit awards

Clark College Foundation won two merit awards for its public relations work in the Portland Metro and Southwest Washington market on Thursday, December 3, 2020.
The Public Relations Society of America’s Oregon chapter (PRSA Oregon) recognized the foundation with merited honorable mentions for its podcast “Beyond the Tragedy” as well as the video “Tracking COVID-19: Clark alumnus leads data source that’s powering the nation’s information” during a virtual ceremony.
The podcast is about how a Clark alumna is changing the plight of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls. After old bones were discovered on the grounds of a Yakama Nation post office, Washington state Rep. Gina Mosbrucker, a Clark College Outstanding Alumni Award recipient, was motivated to act. She changed how the state tracks missing and murdered Native American women and girls. Listen to the podcast “Beyond the Tragedy.”
The video, recorded live on June 3, 2020, addresses how the pandemic was affecting Americans disproportionally early on. A national racial data tracker that collects and analyzes data across the U.S. revealed inequities at a pivotal time as the nation was focusing on issues of diversity, equity and inclusion. PRSA Oregon’s Merit Award recognizes high-quality public relations work through honorable mentions. The public relations chapter also provided Spotlight Awards—best results in the industry—to deserving businesses and organizations, and individual awards of distinction during its December ceremony. Judges from out-of-state chapters determine winning entries.
