Student Learning Center makes reading fun at Family Literacy Night

Dr. Seuss Literacy EventMembers of the Student Learning Center (SLC) held a family literacy event for students and families in early November, dressed in Dr. Seuss costumes. More than 40 students and their children participated in an evening of stories, crafts, fall treats and prizes. Three children’s books were featured, and after each reading, families made a book-themed craft. SLC staff dressed up as storybook characters, as well as Thing One and Thing Two from Dr. Seuss’s “Cat in the Hat” book. Clark’s mascot Oswald the penguin also showed up to get in on the act. All participants left with a new book, prizes and some new ideas about how to make reading a bigger part of their lives.
